WHAT ARE HOT MELT ADHESIVES USED FOR?

Hot melt adhesive, also known as “hot glue”, is a thermoplastic (a material that is solid under normal conditions and can be moldable or moldable under heating). These characteristics make it a popular choice in products. It can bond materials quickly and firmly, even materials of different heights. Hot melt adhesives are commonly used in a wide range of industrial and consumer products-including widely used for sealing cardboard and fiberboard boxes, assembling plastic children’s toys, etc., as well as the manufacture of delicate electronic components. The hot melt spray gun can be a custom nozzle designed for the factory, or a hot melt glue gun for simple arts and crafts prepared for school children.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF HOT MELT ADHESIVES?

The excellent moldability of molten plastic makes it very suitable for gap filling and flexible to use. They have a long and stable shelf life and are environmentally responsible, with no toxic chemical runoff or vaporization. They will not weaken when exposed to a humid environment. They are ideal for tight bonding of two non-porous surfaces.

This means that hot glue becomes viscous and plastic at high temperatures and re-solidifies when it cools, thus bonding items together at a high curing speed.

WHAT SURFACES DOES HOT GLUE NOT STICK TO?

Hot glue will not stick to very smooth surfaces, such as metal, silicone, vinyl, wax or greasy wet surfaces.

What can hot glue bond well with?

Hot glue may be ideal for rough or more porous surfaces because the glue will be able to fill small gaps and will bond to the surface more effectively when cured.

OTHER FACTORS FOR HOT GLUE BONDING STRENGTH

The two most important external factors to consider when using hot glue are temperature and weight.

Hot glues are not ideal in high temperature or cold environments. They cannot be held well under extremely high heat. They are easy to melt and lose shape and bonding strength. Especially because the hot glue will break in cold weather. This breaking temperature may depend on the specific hot glue you are using, so it is worth checking before use.

Hot glue is rarely used for high-strength applications. The exact weight it can handle depends on the materials and glue used.
